Siliguri Government Polytechnic since its foundation (1998) has been playing a distinct role in the field of Engineering. It is situated in Siliguri, Dist. Darjeeling, West Bengal . It is a government institute which offers only diploma courses. The courses offered by SGP are approved by All India Council for Technical Education and the college is affiliated to West Bengal Council of Technical Education. The institute is setup with an elaborate infrastructure with an eco friendly campus. It comprises conference room, language lab, well-equipped laboratories, large classrooms, modern teaching equipment, a well stocked library, workshop and different accommodations for boys (1.5 acres) and girls (1.38 acres, staff quarters included).
Siliguri Government Polytechnic is located exclusively in urban locality. Siliguri being the very next to Kolkata in status, has all the ingredients of a cosmopolitan nature. Geographically, it is fantastically located to serve too many other adjoining areas including hills. With increasing aspirations of hill-people, Siliguri Government Polytechnic need to serve for increasing variety of courses as well as for additional intake. Accordingly, being in Siliguri shall mean to be more efficient and dedicated in terms of providing service to students. We are prepare to take up the challenge of the future and do the needful. Let us all make Siliguri Government Polytechnic, a regional center of all polytechnics, serving to the need of the students and also of the society at large.
