Located in the industrial belt of Howrah district, the institute has started its journey on and from 27.01.1969 with the name Engineering Institute For Junior Executives, under a team of enthusiastic members headed by founder Principal, Mr. Bhabani Prasad Sanyal, for the purpose of training of Foreman as per the need of industry at that time The sandwich course, L.M.E. ( Licentiate Mechanical Engineering ) was of 4 years duration with intake capacity of 55 no of students. In September 1974 the institute was taken over by the Govt. of West Bengal and from July 1991 the state govt. abolished the sandwich pattern course and introduced the present three years Diploma Engineering Courses. At present the institute is affiliated to West Bengal State Council of Technical and Vocational Education and Skill Development and all courses run by the institute, are approved by All India Council for Technical Education, with intake capacity of 60 students in each stream
