A government diploma engineering institute, Central Calcutta Polytechnic was established in 1963 and was affiliated to West Bengal State Council of Technical Education in 1974. Admission is open to all irrespective of caste and creed.

Courses Offered
Central Calcutta Polytechnic is one of the premier diploma institutions which offers diploma courses in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunications, and Computer Science and Technology. It also conducts a post diploma course in Medical Electronics. All these courses are recognized by AICTE and WBSCTE.

The faculties for each department fulfill the AICTE norms. Department have taken initiation to fill up  all the the posts to maintain standard teacher-student ratio.
