The Calcutta Technical School is one of the most prestigious as well as oldest technical Institution in West Bengal. This Institute was established before independence of the country in the year 1927 with need based technical courses under the supervision of Board of Apprentice Training. However with the passing of few years  the Institute was changed in to Govt. Sponsored and two basic diploma courses Mechanical and Electrical Engineering were being run initially. Moreover taking in to account of the importance of the Institute, this was taken over by the Govt in the year 1994. Also this Institute building was declared as heritage one considering ancient criteria.
             Later with the aim of developing this Institution, two other diploma courses Computer Science & Technology and Civil Engineering are introduced which are consistent with industry demand. Besides normal academic activities, most of the faculty members are devoted to their students in order to improve their knowledge and skill.
