Darjeeling Polytechnic, located in Kurseong Sub Division, was established in the year 1964 and presently offering Diploma Engineering courses in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. It was established to cater to the needs of aspiring students from the Hills of West Bengal who wanted to study engineering but did not have the financial means to leave their homes and move to distant places for education. In the course of 56 years of its establishment the Institute has definitely achieved more. It has carved a niche as being the only institute providing quality engineering education for local students, many of whom are employed in different departments and firms of the hill district. This highlights the pivotal role the Institute had played and has in all sense, lived upto all its glory.
Darjeeling Polytechnic has travelled a long journey since its inception in the year 1964 and is one of the oldest and most prominent technical institute in the district of Darjeeling. Located in the hilly terrain of Darjeeling, the institute has produced numerous Diploma Engineers, now spread all over the country and abroad. Darjeeling Polytechnic has been successfully training diploma engineers for the past 56 years with its untiring commitment to enrich the society with efficient human resource. The aim of the institute has never been limited to the mechanical way of teaching but also been extended in developing the underprivileged section in the remote areas of Darjeeling Hills through Community Development programs. Enthusiastic interaction of this institute with the broader society has allowed students from marginal section of the society to play an industrious part in building the society. The Institute strives to uphold standards of excellence. It endeavors for its students to offer best of the facilities and resources to help them grow as a torch-bearer in the event of scientific and technological advancement of the society .
