Darjeeling Polytechnic, located in Kurseong Sub Division, was established in the year 1964 and presently offering Diploma Engineering courses in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. It was established to cater to the needs of aspiring students from the Hills of West Bengal who wanted to study engineering but did not have the financial means to leave their homes and move to distant places for education. In the course of 56 years of its establishment the Institute has definitely achieved more. It has carved a niche as being the only institute providing quality engineering education for local students, many of whom are employed in different departments and firms of the hill district. This highlights the pivotal role the Institute had played and has in all sense, lived upto all its glory.
Darjeeling Polytechnic situated at Kurseong Hill station at an altitude of 4864 ft is the oldest and was only polytechnic in the whole of Darjeeling District until two new polytechnics were established at Kalimpong District and Mirik Sub Division recently. Darjeeling Polytechnic has come a long way since its inception in the year 1964 and has produced innumerable numbers of successful, dedicated and efficient Diploma engineers who has contributed tremendously to the society of hills at large. Darjeeling polytechnic along with the dedicated faculties and staff has been working tirelessly to strive excellence to the extent of making it the best polytechnic for the hills of Darjeeling in spite of limited resources in terms of space. Its been such an honor and pleasure to be a part of such an esteemed Institute. We would be working even harder to fulfill the Mission and Vision set up by this Polytechnic.
